SECTION 3

Academic Management

The Academics page is the single Academic Management Hub with 5 tabs. Your tab selection is remembered between visits.

3.1 Tab Overview

#TabPurpose

3.2 Sections

Sections organize classes into groups. Examples: "Junior Secondary", "Senior Secondary", "Primary". Each section has a name and unique code.

3.3 Classes

Create student groups. K-12: JSS1 through SS3. Tertiary: 100-Level through 400-Level. Each class belongs to a section and can have multiple teachers assigned.

3.4 Subjects

Subjects are created once and then mapped to classes. Tertiary subjects include credit units (e.g., MTH101 = 4 units). Each subject can have a code, name, and type (core/elective).

3.5 Subject Mapping (Curriculum)

Maps subjects to classes and assigns teachers. For tertiary: also set credit units per course.

  1. Go to Academics > Mapping tab
  2. Select a class from the dropdown
  3. Add subjects from the available list
  4. Optionally assign a teacher to each subject-class pair
  5. For tertiary: set credit units per course

3.6 Sessions & Terms

Sessions define your academic year. Terms divide the session into periods. Only one session and one term can be active at a time.

Important

Only ONE session and ONE term should be active at a time. Deactivate the previous term before activating a new one.

5.2 Two-Layer Permission System

EduRemarks uses a two-layer permission system. Layer 1: School must have the feature enabled. Layer 2: Staff must have the specific permission. Both layers must be active.

Feature Gating (Layer 1)

The school admin decides which features are available. Premium features include SMS messaging, CBT exams, admission portal, student portal, and curriculum management.
